Adult Secondary Education Program
Jefferson Adult Education offers a variety of options for adults to complete their secondary education. Students may complete units to receive a Jefferson Union High School District Diploma or pass the GED test.
GED (General Education Development) Certificate
Jefferson Adult Education’s GED Center, located at Serramonte Del Rey, is an Official Testing Center. Employers and educational institutions accept the GED certificate from the California Department of Education as the equivalent of a high school diploma.
Students have the option to study at the GED Center or online.

Credentialed teachers provide individualized instruction in Language Arts, Writing, Social Studies, Science and Math using a variety of GED test preparation materials.

GED instruction is available in English and in Spanish.

Tutors are assigned to some qualifying students for one-on-one assistance.

Young students may be selected for the Tools for Success Program. See Tools for Success under Students in the menu bar.
Study GED Test Preparation Online:
- Web-based software program to study at home on a personal computer.
- Meet with GED instructor once a week to assess progress.

Monday-10:00 am- 2:00 pm
Tuesday-Thursday: 10:00 am-2:00 pm and 4:30 pm-8:30 pm
Saturdays: 10:00 am-1:00 pm
GED Testing Schedule: Test Fee: $100
Monday: Writing: 10:00 am-12:00 pm; Social Studies: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm
Tuesday: Science: 10:00 am-11:30 pm; Reading: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm
Thursday: Math: 10:00 am-11:30 pm
Testing Requirements: Every person testing must show valid identification. Acceptable forms of ID include: Valid driver's license, California ID card, or current passport or Resident Alien Card. If you have not turned 18 yet, you must have a letter of request from a prospective employer, training program or educational institution.
Testing Fee: $100 fee is due opon completion of pre-tests and $10 for each retest. Note: After 3 no-shows, you will have to pay a $10 for re-registration-CASH or MONEY ORDERS ONLY (payable to Jefferson Adult Division).
Test Duration: Social Studies-70 min., Science-80 min., Mathematics-90 min., Language Arts Writing-2 hours, Language Arts Reading-65 min.
Note: To earn a GED Certificate, a minimum score of 410 points in each subject area and an average of 450 points overall is required.
Retest Policy: Demonstration of adequate mastery of subject area is required before approval to retest is granted.

High School Diploma
This course is an individualized program for students 18 years of age or older who are within one year of graduation. In order to qualify for a Jefferson Union High School Diploma, students need to complete the required courses and units for graduation and pass the district-adopted competency examinations in reading, writing and mathematics, Credit may be granted for previous high school courses and approved correspondence courses, work experience, technical and military courses.
All students must pass the English Language Arts and Mathematics sections of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Jefferson Adult Education provides CAHSEE preparation classes. For more information call: (650)550-7948.

Steps to take:
· Submit official transcripts of prior coursework to the Director of Adult Education at 699 Serramonte Blvd., #111, Daly City, CA 94015
· Call (650) 550-7871 for a consultation and to make an appointment with the director.
· Complete required units through classes and/or online courses to study at Jefferson Adult Education GED Center.
· Pass the CAHSEE. Online test preparation is available if needed.
